I started my first business at the age of 20 and recently, during my 23rd birthday, I discovered that not only have I achieved half of my goals, I’m financially buoyant and happy.
It didn’t just fall down from the sky, I made it happen by taking a bold step into starting a business empire. I started little and today, my business is not little at all.
You can build a successful business empire irrespective of your age. All that is needed is a positive mindset and the will to take a bold step. My dear, it’s time to stop wasting your time on that video game.
It’s time to give your favorite TV show a break. If the friends you have aren’t thinking in line with you dreams, please go ahead and ditch them. Entrepreneurship is a lonely journey, be ready for it. Truth is; building a business empire isn’t roses, but you’ll surely smile at the end.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a student or an employee, what matters is your passion to build a business empire that you can be proud of for years to come.
How to build a successful business empire in your 20s
1. It starts with a business idea
Every business has the potential to make you great in life. What usually hampers business growth is mindset and lack of professional business advice.
You can decide to delve into the fashion industry and make lots of trendy cloths. You can even take a look online to discover a business you can start from home. What kind of business are you passionate about? Whether it’s online or offline, go ahead and discover it.
When you discover that dream business, draw out a detailed analysis in form of a business plan. This will be your road map as you journey to your dream of starting a business empire.
2. Start part-time
Most people will give excuses like; “I’m a student, I don’t have the time to start a business” Well, that’s BS. It’s not about not having time, it’s about creating time.
I believe that to build an empire, there has to be sweat and blood. Never in history has an empire been built out of roses and laughter. Honestly, you have to sweat and cry for it.
As a student, visit your schedule and find out when you’re most likely to be free. If there’s none, please drop whatever activity that’s taking you nowhere. You can start working on your dream business from 6pm to 10pm daily. In this age of technology, you can do anything and at any given time.
As an employee, make out time to for your side business. It could be when you’re done with work. Doing this will give you much confidence to focus fully when the time is right.
3. Utilize the weekend
A dreamer who’s passionate to seeing his dream come true won’t waste his weekend playing games or boozing with friends in a bar.
Weekends are actually the perfect time to work on your business empire. It’s the time you have to give your business all the attention that it deserves.
This stage of your life is not meant for watching TV, playing games or wasting time with friends. This is a time where you focus more on the future and what it holds for you. It’s not easy to stay alone all day working on your dream, but the result will be worth it.
When I started my first business, a perfume business to be precise, I think I became the best loner in the world. I was always alone, working and fighting for what I believe in.
My friends thought that I was wasting my time. But today, the rewards are clear even to the blind. Sometimes we have to suffer in other to enjoy later.
4. Venture Fully
There will come a time when you will feel that you are now ready to venture fully. That’s when your side hustle has started breeding forth a little money. The reason why you began part-time was to boost your confidence. If after that and you’re still hesitating, then you need to deal with self-doubt.
Taking a bold step might be hard because it’s like walking to uncertainty, into something that has no guarantee yet. It is actually a risk, a risk worth taking. As long as you didn’t delve in blindly, you’ll be fine.
Building a successful business empire isn’t for the faint-hearted, it’s for those who possess the heart of a lion. No wonder the rich among us are few cause only few are willing to pay the price.
As you walk the path of a millionaire, the path of those building a business empire, don’t restrict yourself from expansion. As you grow, think of growing the business. If it’s getting a space, please go ahead.
Whatever you need to do for your business to thrive, go ahead and do it. Don’t be afraid or shy to ask for help. People are willing to help if you ask nicely.
