This post explains some common reasons you may not have made any money as an internet marketer.

Have you tried to make money online without success? You probably had high hopes when you started out in digital marketing – some ‘internet guru’ had you all pumped about how much you could make but it hasn’t gone to plan so far? You are not alone.

The sad truth is, most internet marketers (especially beginners) don’t make any money – at first. The internet marketing venture is not a stroll in the park, not for most people. Making money online is not easy. It is simple, but not easy. There’s a difference.

It is simple because if you can follow a few rules and work hard, you will be making insane amounts of money.

However, before you can become successful, you’ll need to overcome the different challenges that would come your way. I will list some of those challenges in this article. They are the most common reasons most internet marketers don’t make any money.

If you have tried to make money online and failed, this post provides answers to some burning questions you may have. If you are considering making a move in internet marketing, you will be happy you found this article.

5 reasons internet marketers don’t make money

  1. lack of focus

For you to succeed in making money online, you have to do everything possible to stay focused. Distraction is your number one enemy.

The problem with beginners is, they want to do everything at once. This is a recipe for failure. When I started 8 years ago, I wanted to do article writing, niche blogging, web design, SEO, domain flipping, all at the same time. Needless to say I failed horribly.

Pick one thing you can do and stick to it. This is so important I feel like repeating it a thousand times. A rolling stone gathers nothing. Once you start working on one thing, resist the temptation to buy another e-book on another topic until you achieve your first result.

  1. Information Overload

This partly results from lack of focus. Most people don’t make any money because they know too much. Over sabi! (a pidgin slang attributed to someone who believe they know a lot while indeed they know nothing at all) This is probably the number one culprit causing many people to fail in the online business. There are simply too many money-making courses selling online and they are confusing the people who purchase them.

Another reason is some people love gathering information without working on anything. Someone might have this ebook for example (because it free), and have many other ebook courses (because they are free), yet he keeps looking for more things. All the books in this world won’t make you a dime! Your ability to pick a model and focus on it is what will make you rich.

  1. Lack of Funds | Reluctance to Spend Money

This one frustrated me when I started internet marketing 8 years ago. I had no money, I was looking for money. I focused so much on freebies. Freebies are ok but you can only go so far with them.

You need a budget for some basic things like web hosting, internet connection, power supply, etc. You need to pay for services – we like free things too much…that’s why most of us don’t succeed.

Nothing is free – even in Freetown. If you don’t have a budget, you will be under pressure to make money fast and your venture could be over before it even has an opportunity to start.

The thing is, people complain of lack of money and it is understandable. I wish there was a way around it but there is none.

If you need money, you need to spend money. It’s that simple. Many people contact me to help them start a blog. The moment you mention money, they run away!

  1. Lack of patience

I won’t go much into this. It is important that you remain patient. You will make money. Patience is a virtue. Don’t jump ship too early. Online business is work. You must wait for results. Darlington Omeh (wealthresult.com) once said he waited 9 months before he made his first penny from his blog. Look where he is now. Be patient.

  1. Laziness

This one explains itself. If you expect to make money while doing nothing, internet marketing is not for you. I don’t believe anything is for you at all. For you to make money online, you must work. It gets easier as you progress but for the start, you must be willing to work hard and persist.

Now you understand some reasons people don’t make money. There is so much money to be made on the internet – I know. My desire is for you to discover this truth as I have found it.
